I wonder if 3 films in 3 years is too much for audiences and they will begin to lose interest. There is certainly a lot of other films and franchises competing for the Star Wars demographic.

In time every single offhand remark from the original trilogy will be turned into a spin-off movie because Disney are too afraid to actually branch out and explore this giant story universe they bought.

I think Alka-Seltzer and the Star Wars franchise are working on a joint advertisement campaign.

I wouldn't say so. You'll notice it still sells very well, and it's not like other franchises haven't spit out a bunch of films in a short period of time and remained successful.

I wouldn't be surprised, but, right now, Star Wars is selling incredibly well. We shall see.

3 films in 3 year's would have been probably not too much (say SW7-8-9 having a lords of the rings trilogy type of release pattern)

6 movie in 6 year's (at the minimum that is already announced) could end up being too much.

Marvel churns out 2 films a year, and they're doing fine. But, yeah, Disney could end up running this franchise into the ground and killing the magic.

Yeah but Marvel's just an umbrella name for many distinct properties. Star Wars, while you can tell stories other than those that are lightsaber-involved (Rogue One) is still Star Wars. So I get the apprehension.

I agree. Star Wars premieres used to be EVENTS. Releasing them yearly just feels like some of the magic is lost. If everyday was Christmas, it would lose its meaning.

I think the real problem is the fanboys who ruined star wars. The original trilogy fanboys, the Disney star wars fanboys and the prequel fanboys. It's like the whole marvel vs dc thing. That is what is truly destroying star wars and will probably make it fade.

Well, lucas has been saturating every market with starwars since their release, so I'd say Disney is just following suit.

So far, yes. Surely they'll start producing SW films not fixated on Skywalkers &/or Death Stars. TFA was a required reset to known dna, its sequel had better be its own thing & not another retread, they won't last.
