PG-13 Action and Horror films

ENOUGH already. We get it, you wan to sell tickets to as many people possible but dont seem to realize in the process you lose serious adult film fans who might have otherwise bought tickets. I'm so tired of all these "haunting/supernatural" movies that use nothing but shadows and jump scares and little girls (The Shining did it best, why would anyone ever think they could outdo that? *shudder*)

. I want a horror film to be horrific, like Hellraiser, The Thing, A Nightmare on Elm Street, whatever. It should satisfy my bloodlust. It should make me look at the screen and think "wow how did they do that trick" instead of knowing "wow, they used computer imaging again." I want creative monsters instead of every girl in a small town getting possessed, or the owl from watchmen getting haunted. I want sinister villains who have actual connections to the protagonist (see: old Bond films, Die Hard).

I like fluff and light light-heartedness as much as the next sad lonely guy, but I don't *beep* like my drinks to be watered down. I know what I can handle, and if you can surprise me and take me past that with your movie, I'd consider it worth more than the money paid.

Best action movies not rated R include the Bourne Trilogy & Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I'll give you Indiana Jones, but you have to remember, the same director made Jaws which would maybe even be rated R today, but it was rated PG at the time and still is. Raiders and Batman and stuff I think were actually some of the catalysts for the creation of the PG 13 label (might have been earlier, correct me if im wrong, please). When you think about that it starts to put the whole 'blockbuster movie' trend into a more coherent perspective, at least to me.

I was thinking that the other day. Though most PG-13 horror films are masterpieces compared to the shit I grew up with. The Fog remake with Tom Welling. Darkness Falls. Boogeyman with Barry Watson. Cry_Wolf with Jon Bon Jovi...

I don't mind PG-13 at all. You don't need a movie to be rated R in order for it to be mature. But at the same time, it's hard to make a hardcore PG-13 rated action or horrot movie. Some movies like Alien vs Predator should be rated R.

How about Liam Neeson?

If its not Directed by Mel Gibson then I won't watch it.

However, if somehow they got Nic Cage, Keanu Reeves, Micheal Jai White, Jackie Chan or Mark and Donnie Whalberg then I might be inclined to watch this movie.

I'm not denying that there are good pg13 movies, but on the whole I find most of them to be watered down, with more unrealistic dialog, violence and sexuality, so it can be sold in theaters to minors. The MPAA has a strangle hold on the show biz, even though this country supposedly doesn't really have censorship. What a bunch of nonsense, if you want more information on that you should check out the documentary "This Film is Not Yet Rated" its short but very informative.

They should get two of the former James Bond actors for the film: Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan -- with one of them playing a villain, the other a good guy who either joins or aids the Expendables.

Both blokes are in great shape for their age and have had recent roles demonstrating they still have the action chops.

Sexuality is a lazy way of finishing a film. I mean if the main theme of the film is the exploration of sexuality and the dangers of blood lust then sure, of course you'd need it. BLOOD LUST : A film about a town that is watched over by an evil god who punishes the town after watching them engage in sexual acts. Sort of like teeth. Maybe this god is a wizard and he turns the man's penis into a knife and the woman's vagina into barbed wire. In the end it's just shock value. However if done correctly it could be considered something on its own. But, once someone tries to duplicate the success of the original everything seems less.

I thought one or two of them were rated R. A horror film could be rated PG. Consider the first two Harry Potters. They had a PG rating despite having some "disturbing content." But it would be difficult cutting a movie down until the MPAA decides to go with the PG rating. The problem with most horror movies today is that they lack the dramatic element. Nobody said a good drama couldn't scare the *beep* out of people if it wanted to.
