A valuable list as always. I was wondering where Zardoz was, and was going to put it on my own list - but it's listed as an Irish/American coproduction which I wouldn't have guessed. And Boorman's other great film Point Blank is American, so he doesn't cut it for the list. Hope to finally get to The Pumpkin Eater this year, and perhaps those Joanna Hogg films. Need to see The Final Programme again, was not crazy about it initially but suspect it will improve. British weird-sf-fantasy stuff from the late 60s through the 70s in general is something I want to check out.

You love British cinema of the last 10 years or so you mean. How could you not have Holiday on the Buses or Confessions of a Landscape Gardener.

Mike Leigh's work is excellent, especially 'Naked', 'Vera Drake' and 'Secrets & Lies'.

From your list I've only seen "Eden Lake", which was pretty ^g_ood.

"Deep End" is my favorite British film. That, and "The Innocents". brrrrr...

The correct answer is The Long Good Friday, the movie that made Bob Hoskins a force to be reckoned with. I only saw it for the first time after he died, but what an acting job he did in that! Blew me away, great movie.

While I've only seen one of those (Sexy Beast) and so can't comment on the quality, it seems pretty limited - British cinema is far more than mostly low-rent crime films from the past 20 years. Anyway here are 66 of my favorites, chronologically:
