What do you think of the Death Wish movies?

I watched the first three so far. They are all kind of good, kind of bad, pros and cons, so so... The first one could have been the best, but I found the third act to be considerable anticlimatic.
The second one has a better story, but ultimately suffers from anticlimax as well, as well possibly being too violent. The third one has a really over the top and fun climax, in a good campy way, but the first and second act are kind of boring and cheesy.
What do you think?

I've been a big fan of all three for a long time. The third one in particular. Did you know that Jimmy Page of Led Zepplin fame wrote the score to that?

Part 3 is a classic, the best one by far.

First one's pretty dull. Reached its peak with when it was nothing but Charles Bronson gunning down niggers and Mexicans for 80 minutes by Death Wish 3

The problem I have with Part 3 is that there are so many things that feels like that could be cut, and it wouldn't even matter to the plot, such as the villain getting arrested and coincidentally locked in the same police station as Kersey, then released, which had nothing to do with anything... or how the lawyer woman was murdered, even though that didn't change anything in the plot, or didn't take it in any new directions... It just felt like a series of random spur the moment ideas, didn't it?

I thought the 1st one was decent. Not good enough for me to watch the sequel though.

The first one is good movie.
Two, three and four are guilty pleasures of mine - ridiculous yet enjoyable.
Part five is just plain awful - cheaply made, bad acting.

Mainly I thought the first one is anticlimatic, in the sense that in the end, Paul is told to get out of town, and that's it. It seems like they could have gone for a much bigger, more dramatic ending. For example, imagine if the crooks all got together and found out who the vigilante was, and decided to go after his daughter, to bargain with him, or something like that. That's just an example, but it feels me to me that it could have gone much more dramatic, and it seems to end a very strange low note.

Love 1-4. 5 is OK at best.

The first one was well put together, but the rest are junk.

I despise them.

while i mildly like some of them the series as a whole is definitely nothing special.
just in terms of Charles Bronson movies i think Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) (10/10) is easily his #1 movie with Hard Times (1975)(7/10) being the only other movies of his that stands out (i.e. that i give a 7 or higher). but i would imagine Death Wish movies are probably one of Bronson's more known movies though.

Dull garbage movies.
Even the much loved shoot out in Death Wish 3 doesn't take up as much of the runtime as people say.

I like watching the coons getting blown away!
