Why is Fight Club (1999) so well regarded?

It may be ahead of its time and has great performances by Norton and Pitt, but it has such a dirty, disgusting, dreary, antisocial and nihilistic feel about it. What do people see in it?

What's wrong with that?

Anyway, It's usually appreciated by teenagers wannabe cool guys.

I agree but I kind of like it in the sense that it was the intention to enhance the stature of post-adolescence crisis. Some folk take its "coolness" way too seriously though. Especially considering the main character is insane.

I'm not crazy about the film overall though. It's a bit of a drag and I find Norton annoying when he's overexposed in lead roles.

And it paved the way for a generation to cream themselves over TDK and impose that crap on us, for goodness sake.
