It's obvious that Caps 3 wasn't originally planned to be "Civil War".
That comic story plot is about Iron Man fighting Captain America and all Marvel heroes talking sides. When WB/DC decided to make the follow up to Man of Steel "Batman v Superman" it seems like Marvel Studios panicked.
Now, Marvel should have faith in their films, they have been successful. Civil War should be an Avengers film, not a Cap 3 sequel. Now, it just looks like Avengers 2.5
The problem is, this film will over saturate the Marvel brand. The Infinity Wars would have been very anticipated. Audiences need time to breathe. You have Avengers 2 come out last year, and now another film with MOST of the Avengers this year, then another Avengers film not too far away.
"Man of Steel" came out in 2013. "The Dark Knight Rises" came out in 2012. So it's been 3-4 years since either character has a film. They have never been in a film together. They pushed it back from 2015 to 2016 to rewrite the script with Terrio and reshoots, and a longer post production just to get it right.
If Marvel's Civil War is generic and rushed, it will leave a bad taste in audiences mouth. And if it's just "okay", it will over saturate the Marvel market. They should have just done a Captain America 3 film this year and saved "Civil War" for an Avengers flick. It feels like they are reacting to Batman v Superman, so they wanted to do Captain America vs Iron Man.
Final thought: They were afraid X-Men and BvS would outgross Cap 3 and the headline would look like Marvel came in 3rd. So what? It's one year. Let Fox and WB have some success too. Share the wealth.

I feel the same, which is a shame because the first two Cap films are my #1 and 2 of the whole Marvel franchise.

Yeah, it does feel more like Avengers 2.5. But I hope they keep it leveled for the most part.

Civil War has always been an idea. Plus I think Infinity War would be a better way to end the MCU, so it makes sense for Captain America 3 to be Civil War.

Just ignore anon rants. He'd probably shit on Marvel even if they were to cast his infallible hero, Bill Murray.
