Star Wars is simple sci-fi. Nothing abstract or complex. Just child-like stories and concepts. Star Trek is far superior in terms of complexity. Star Trek explores far more interesting ideas.

There are great episodes and as a whole I really like Star Trek. But it isn't that interesting, way too many repeating episodes, too many 'alien of the week' episodes (definitely with The Next Generation, even in later seasons).

Most sci-fi is nothing but fantasy. Visiting strange beings in a weird land does not cease to be fantasy when you set in on another planet rather than in the gnome kingdom or whatever.

The important thing to notice is the score out of 10. That is down to a 8.2/10. Will it be a great film, or just a good film? I cannot wait to see it Friday morning though. Should be a good experience either way.
