Gunnar Hansen dies aged 68

Gunnar Hansen, the actor who played terrifying villain Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, has died.

The Icelandic-born actor, 68, died on Saturday of pancreatic cancer at his home in Maine, US, his agent said.

Another legend is gone. Loved him in Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, Brutal Massacre, and of course as Leatherface in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Sad news

Too many legends of the genre gone this year. Those performances in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre were like lightning in a bottle, and now three of those actors have passed. Rest in peace Mr. Hansen.

This is very sad. We should all feel a bit rudderless for awhile, I think. One of our guiding lights of horror is gone.

I met him in 2007 or so. He was really friendly. After I talked to him for a while he said hey do you want a picture? He got me and my friend in a double headlock. Pretty great

What an incredible icon he was for horror. This news is terrible.

I'll always remember his performance in TCM, especially the very last scene.
