Most other 'nerd' franchises seem to have a mix of oddballs and normal fans. However, I've never met a Doctor Who fan who wasn't some sort of socially maladjusted character. I don't mean 'playfully eccentric' either. I mean the kind who sit alone in a darkened room for six weeks drinking themselves blind whilst alphabetizing their comic book collection.

My dad has been a lifelong Dr Who fan and I would say he's pretty normal, although the way he says "Exterminate"sounds freakishly like one of the daleks.
