Will it end up being ranked higher than those two films by critics and fans alike?

Let's be serious here. There's a minimum to how well made a movie has to be in order to appear high in critics lists, and Abrams certainly isn't up to this minimum level (which we can see again from the trailer).

What do you care? As long as it out-grosses The Avengers, right?

What is it about a Disney Abrams collaboration that gives you hope it will produce a serious critically acclaimed film? My money would be on that combo producing a reasonably well made and glitzy but rather derivative lightweight flick. Something fast paced and reasonably entertaining is about all that one should expect. If you are expecting anything visually arresting or even all that interesting , with character development or with anything meaningful to say you haven't been paying attention to what everyone involved in this project has been doing.
