I know that people will hate me for saying this. But I love the dubbed version so much better than the subtitled version. Some of the line deliveries were unforgettable.

And "Give me my comb."

I love subtitles in some movies but I guess seeing the movie with the dubbed spoiled me.

While I agree that many movies dubbed sucked. But I found that Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon sucked some what with it not being dubbed.

Example of this was when Jade Fox was using the guard to fight with the cop during the night fight scene. There was a ton of dialog going on during that time but it was not able to be translated into written form because of the amount of speech taking place. So it was left out. But it shows how much confidence Jade Fox had while attempting to defeat the undercover police officer.

I've always thought dubbing was a cheat to the actors, their delivery and emotion is being dubbed by someone who is little more than another audience member watching the film. Nah, I'd rather hear the actors deliver their lines in their own language and read the subs.

I can totally agree with you on that. But being that I am not familiar with Mandarin it is very hard for me to decipher when the actor is placing the emphasis on certain words for effect. Often times in languages other than English, the subject is placed 1st or even last in the formation of sentence structure. I was just saying that in this instance with Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, being that I had watched this movie long ago. I watched the dubbed version first. Now I am watching the Subtitled version and I am really missing some of the lines that I had grown to love in the dubbed version of the movie. In this case of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon most of the actors did thier own voice overs. With the exception of Jen and Dark Cloud being the only ones who did not do thier voice overs.

I was excited to see The Raid 2 a few months back when I saw it was airing on Starz, but soon found out it was a dubbed version, so I decided "fuck that" and didn't continue. Still want to see the thing.

Yeah, I remember the dubbed version of that having some really funny line readings. "Fah-tha! I will avenge muth-ah!"

I always go for subtitles, though. I like to hear different languages being spoken, and to hear the original actors' voices and deliveries.
