I think that while the original with Stallone, Diane Lane and the super awesome Lawgiver was decent, Dredd was a slightly better film.

Judge Dredd: 6
Dredd: 7

I'm with you, shipmate. It always astounds me when someone says they prefer the new Dredd to Stallone's flick. The mind boggles.

Dredd is the better film (8/10), but Judge Dredd is more fun (4/10).

Stallone's Judge Dredd is actually fun, a concept alien to the nerds who made Dredd. Alan Silvesti's awesome score and Max Von Sydow make Sly's JD watchable. It ain't great but it's gold compared to Karl Urban's lame ass Dredd. Sly's Lawgiver > Urban's sissy pistol.

I don't get why so many people love Dredd so much, I thought it was f-king horrible. The guy Dredd isn't even the main character, his annoying sidekick is. What's up with people loving all these dreary ass gory movies nowadays? At least Stallone's Judge Dredd had some life & imagination to it plus better weaponry.

i prefer the old one, which is more fun and in many ways closer to the comics, although it would have been better with the violence from the new one. a balance needs to be found between the two and then the perfect dredd could be made

The 1995 version just had more stand out moments.

Dredd was a decent action-flick and might have been true to its source material.

But my vote goes for Judge Dredd....it's just a lot of mindless fun!

I like Judge Dredd way better. Despite its flaws it gave Dredd much more character. Dredd he was just a cop. Plus Judge Dredd was far more fun.
