No one compares. Others have made masterpieces in the genre-Kubrick,Soderberg,Tarkovski, the gravity guy and Jim Cameron(Avatar, Terminator) but Ridley Scott has 2 bonafide masterpieces-Alien and Blade Runner and two great films in Prometheus and The Martian now.
His track record in sci-fi is amazing, as one reviewer said: Ridley Scott puts the science in science fiction.

You can't deny it has people talking despite some flaws. And visually it was STUNNING. Among the finest visual films.
