I think Ridley Scott sacrificed his entire career when he made Prometheus, some people disagree with my assessment (Which is cool) but I'm genuinely curious as to what they can do with the story to pull it back on track and make it look something like a believable story.

We've got a fine hive-mind of cinematic appreciation here, what do you think they'll do to rectify the difficulties Prometheus had as a story?

I hope I am wrong but picking such a terrible title like "Alien: Paradise Lost" makes me suspect that Scott has lost his sensibilities as a filmmaker. Maybe he was thinking he would be doing the fans a favor by calling it "Alien", but that would just make him look clueless.

I just cannot think of a way that he can pull it back into being a believable story. How do you end with a woman recovering from invasive surgery and a robot head?

I recently watched Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection for the first time without any trouble. Yet I turned off Prometheus somewhere between 15 minutes and 30 minutes into the movie. I intended to finish it later, but I never did. I wanted to go in open minded but the movie already made me cringe with some of the stupid decisions the characters make.
I will give it a second chance though.

As far as characters making stupid decisions in Prometheus, isn't that the entire point? They're a bunch of arrogant boffins who think they know everything and are mistaken in thinking they were invited there. Curiosity killed the cat, or this case, curiosity killed the scientist.

There is no way in hell a trained astronaut would take off his helmet the way one of the main characters did in the beginning, heel no other character in the Alien franchise would even do that. The movie felt like I had to take it "serious" yet the characters come off as dumb horror movie fodder, which I found very jarring. The tones just did not mix well.

That movie sounds ggrrrreeeeaaattttt...

It seems like a poor attempt at making it sound artsy and sophisticated.

Yep. It seems to belong to that pseudo-intellectual brand of sci-fi that leads to title names such as Jupiter Ascending.

As bad as that movie was, at least it wasn't stealing from Milton.

Since it has yet to be seen or even made, there can be no thoughts.

We need to know how Dr.Shaw is going to eat, sleep and do her ablutions on that peculiar spacecraft.
