I guess the current iteration with Smith and that crew was costing too much, with many people getting huge salary and point on the gross profit.

According to the leak that last one didn't made money for Sony (if I remember correctly) and that was a $624,026,776 at the box office movie.

They were probably asking too much, so they go with a reboot because that franchise as still as nice awareness and value.

Not that bad of a move for Sony imo.

This just has “bad idea” written all over it. First, there was only one good Men in Black film. Second, MIB succeeded almost entirely because of the fantastic chemistry between Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith. Without that, what’s the point?

I didn't see Men in black 3 and I'm not sure for the 2.

But the concept of a secret agency fighting alien that can stay secret with memory removal tool is a bit like James Bond no ? You can do many movies like that (Kingsman is a bit that with a human villain).

Apparently it is something often asked on a movie pitch, where are the men in black in that story. I think R.I.P.D. is also a men in black movie from what I understand of the plot.

To make it short, many people do Men in Black movies anyway, if you are to make one at Sony why not use that franchise awareness for it.

Yeah, but the joke was only funny for one movie. It was already tired by the time of Men in Black II and Men in Black 3 was just awful.
