I can't believe i am JUST NOW getting around to watching this documentary. Everyone who considers Hollywood (the industry) to be of importance cannot deny this film's existence. It captures the LA underground late 70's scene virtually without focusing on the city itself (there is one scene that comes to mind that shows East Hollywood to Downtown and beyond). Most of the focus is on the performances, and while i still don't care much for the songs of X and Catholic Discipline, there are some really great performances captured on film.

The Germs win best band in terms of capturing the raw essence of the scene, but Fear were by far and large the most talented. A must for any fan of the seminal bands Circle Jerks and Black Flag as well.

I remember this was played on MTV quite a bit in the mid 1980's. I've seen it yet I can't remember much about it, although I did get the title confused with History of the World -- Part One, which was also from 1981.

I don't think the title is really fair ... that moment did NOT mark any such decline and yes, i think it is easy to confuse those two titles. Still ... great stuff.

I really want to see this some day.

I've seen part 2, with the metal band era, which was great.
