What?

No.

HD just refers to the resolution and not the aspect ratio.

Oh, is that what he meant? My apologies, OP.

SD = 720x480 If I recall correctly
HD = 1280x720
Full HD = 1920x1080
Ultra HD = 3840x2160

Widescreen and full screen refer to aspect ratio, not resolution. These are outdated terms in my opinion, as widescreen TVs are a standard and have been for over a decade.

When TVs were still 4:3 ratio, fullscreen meant the picture took up the whole 4:3 area, and widescreen meant that the picture was 16:9 or higher, such as 2:35. 1, 1:85. 1 and all the other wide ratios there are, so you would get black bars on the top and bottom.

Now that TVs are 16:9, the term fullscreen (for 4:3) should not be used any more. Unless of course you mean fullscreen as in the full 16:9 screen, and wide being the 2:35. 1s etc, but whenever someone brings this up on here, people still go with the old 4:3 definition of fullscreen and It's annoying having to correct them.
