The Room (2003) isn't so bad

Just watched the first 10 minutes. Seeing its reputation I was expecting something amateurishly shot where you could barely distinguish what is happening on screen, and editing so sloppy that you couldn't follow the story. But those things are actually okay, I mean it's not like they just gave a camera to a 10 years old with no experience.

The big problem with the movie is pretty simple : bad taste. But its few filmmaking merits alone should easily make it better than, say, Teenage Mutant Ninia Turtles.

By the way I advise all of you you to watch Ben & Arthur (2002). Now that's a truly atrociously made movie.

There's a big difference between the two in terms of acting, framing, editing, sound editing, set design and beauty of the visuals. If Ben & Arthus is a 1, then The Room definitely deserves more. It actually has the feel of a movie (or at least TV show), Ben & Arthur just looks like people standing in front of a camera.

You can judge many things in 10 minutes. The cinematography, the editing, the acting.
