Do American actresses unfairly lose respectability

after doing explicit scenes? I'm not talking about the occasional flash of ass or tits here. I mean the heavy stuff like Chloe Sevigny in The Brown Bunny, the exquisite Lauren Lee Smith in Lie With Me and Margot Stilley in 9 Songs. To some extent Dakota Johnson in 50 Shades of Grey too. Personally I think so. They don't have this problem in Europe. Actually sometimes even a naked showering or clothes changing scene causes people to see the actress "in a new light". Why? People get half or fully naked every day, to shower, go to the bathroom, and yes, have sex. I don't see why showing this in a movie is so shocking.

'Murika, that's why.
Welcome to the country that doesn't mind showing their children how to shoot, stab, or decapitate another human being, but staunchly refuses to let them see a man show effection for his wife and engage in the act of love.

What baffles me is many actresses do sex scenes and wear next to nothing on the red carpet (Jennifer Lopez is a good example), but still have some respectability, but if they did even a brief naked shower scene or a naked in bed scene, audiences would be shocked and call them all sorts.

France is the only European country where sucking a dick for real on screen won't make an actress lose respectability. Do you seriously think that the British, for example, wouldn't think less of an actress who had unsimulated sex in a movie?
Also, unsimulated sex is not something that big-name star actresses generally do in any country, and it's something that's only seen in independent and arthouse movies. People would expect explicit sex scenes from Chloe Sevigny, but they definitely wouldn't expect it from, say, Jennifer Laurence or Emma Watson. I mean, can you seriously imagine someone like Angelina Jolie starring in a pretentious arthouse movie with graphic unsimulated sex scenes?

In France they get away with it, unless they wear a bikini in a park of course...

tedious
Well, yeah, France obviously isn't going to be making any more sexually explicit movies once they become an Islamic caliphate.

it's simply people with higher moral standards who look down on it. because from a religious standpoint it's wrong to do that sort of stuff. this will never change.
technically, i should be against it to (since i am religious). but being i am a guy it's impossible for me to not like seeing naked females in movies ;)

If you're so religious why don't you avoid those movies then?

A lot of American actresses who do those scenes(at least ones today it seems) don't seem to have much talent other than taking off their clothes. Its not the nudity, its the actress. How about a little substance, to go with the looks.
