I am watching the second on Netflix right now. The first two were good IMO, but they got pretty bad toward the end. Bronson was too old by the second one. I think it has the potential to be a good remake if done right. Maybe have to change the racial overtones, but I feel like Death Wish was never as good as it could have been.

Thoughts?

I would be open to a Death Wish remake, provided the right actor were chosen. He'd have to be old enough and an "everyman" to make it work.

I'd even be open to ethnicizing it with someone like Ice Cube or feminizing it with Lucy Liu.

Or just jump in with both feet and cast Danny Trejo.

Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon was pretty much a remake. I can't see how an official remake would be much different from that film.

There are already plenty of vigilante films.

No it will most likely be PG-13 anyway and I'm sick to day of this movies. I wouldn't mind a vigilante movie taking some elements from the movies.

Hollywood have remade bad films before, I don't see why not.

I'm sure someone could make a better film out of the concept, but on the other hand, the setup is generic enough that there are probably some similar films out there anyway.

Can anybody recommend me some? I love the cult feel of Death Wish. The movies aren't that good, but I like the dark, weird feel.

I will check out Death Sentence someday.
