The Hand That Rocks The Cradle is showing on TV tonight. It got to me to wondering whatever happened to Rebecca De Mornay because she was so good in this film it looked like she had a promising future. Yet nothing. She appeared in Risky Business with tiny Tom Cruise and we all know what happened to him, yet she seems to have missed out. She's still working but mainly on TV it would seem. What gives.

Yep she disappeared from the radar, she was good in The Hand That Rocks, can't remember anything else ive seen her in since that and Backdraft ??

The Three Musketeers, with Chris O-Donnell (also Kiefer, Chuck Sheen and Ollie Platt, Tim Curry, etc)

I might have seen it, I'm not sure.

Three Musketeers is her most memorable role for me, she's stunningly gorgeous. She's hilarious as the hot mom in Wedding Crashers forcing Owen Wilson to squeeze her breasts.

That was Jane Seymour who got her breasts squeezed, a LONG way from Dr. Quinn. De Mornay did have a cameo in the beginning as a litigant.

Oh yes she was the Countess D' Winter, she looked gorgeous in the film.

I was always puzzled about this as well.

It wasn't a main role but dammit I loved her as Finch's mum in American Reunion! She owned that role. And yes I enjoy her turns in The Hand that Rocked and Risky Business, it's a shame her career didn't progress further. I always thought she had really intense, beautiful eyes too.

It is a shame her career appeared to grind to a halt. She had other roles but nothing as good as Cradle. Rather than getting starring roles she ended up mostly in supporting parts. Now she seems to be doing mostly TV.

Lords of Dogtown is a goodun for her though.

Guilty As Sin flopped so that might have stopped her getting parts.

In Hollywood you're only as good as your last picture.

She had a few more major roles after that film. I'd say age, did her in.

She was awesome in Mother's Day even if it was a B-movie remake, her performance was the stand out.

She was good in this and it was a good movie.

Milady is the only well-written character from The Three Musketeers (1993) and De Mornay is fantastic in that role.

She was at her hottest in the American version of And God Created Woman and I had a major stiffy throughout.

She was hot and a really good actress. I loved her in Never Talk to Strangers too. I think the last film I saw her in was Identity, ironically, she was the first one to be killed off in the film. Definetely shocked me. but it was cool to see her in that film.

Identity was the sort of role she was reduced to doing, it was a long way from Hands That Rocked The Cradle.

She could be classy as well as sexy and steamy. I loved her in 'Risky Business', as I'm guessing many did, but I think her most memorable performance came in a supporting role in 'The Trip to Bountiful'. It is an elegant and memorable turn and, thinking of it, I'm a bit wistful that her filmography doesn't feature more such work. 'Runaway Train' is a cracking film as well but my recollection of the extent of her presence isn't great.

I didn't realise she was in Runaway Train, that deserves a re-watch.

Well, she layed a row of eggs including some sub par films with Banderas and Don Johnson and 3 Muskateers.

Normally that wouldn't kill a career of a good actress (which I think she is).

Started out promisingly in the early-mid 80s with RISKY BUSINESS, THE TRIP TO THE BOUNTIFUL, RUNAWAY TRAIN. Became a household name (sort of) with THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE. Downhill ever since, including some weak psychological thrillers, GUILTY AS SIN, NEVER TALK TO STRANGERS, and a forgettable MOTHER'S DAY (2010), playing bitch mum to a family of home invading psychopaths.

Rebecca DeMakingmehorny, amirite?

She has worked steadily and done several good tv movies. She never seemed to reach the acclaim or stardom that seemed inevitable when she started.

She should have been in Top Gun instead of Kelley McGillis.

I would like to have seen her in Top Gun. She worked well with TC in Risky Business.

The roles get fewer as actors get older.

That is certainly the case with female actors, there are fewer roles women in general. There are exceptions like Julianne Moore though.

I liked her in Runaway Train with Jon Voight and Eric Roberts...

She has a movie coming up called The Love Of Two Brains. With Clive Warren. Looks great!
