I read that Josh Trank (the director of FF) drew inspiration from David Cronenberg when making FF. Sounds great, it was just terribly executed.

But how great would it have been to draw from Stalker? The characters in FF travel to another dimension, where they obtain their powers. That's similar to the "Zone" in Stalker. The characters could travel through this vacant land - a la The Zone - where they would spend some time exploring, only to come back and slowly getting their abilities. It would have the same beautiful shots, cinematography, etc.

it could be a masterpiece if done right.
