Remake of Logan's Run

I think this is one 'classic' SF film that would improve dramatically by a remake. When watching the 1976 film the effects are weak.
I admit the 'carousel' scene is amazing but all too many of the scenes throughout, that were meant to sell a futuristic utopia, felt closer to a visit to your local LA mall or power plant, which is probably where they were filmed.
The story itself is intriguing. With the right director, I can see this working very well with modern effects.

They probably thought they same thing about Planet of the Apes.

The Island (2005) borrows so heavily from Logan's Run that it's practically a remake.

I remember Nicolas Winding Refn was interested in doing a Logan's Run film, but that project died. I think the original is fine, though.

It'll suck even worse.

I think it could work if done right. Could make a really interesting movie. It's a good concept, but I don't foresee it being done right.

No was a The Island (2005) rip-off of The Clonus Horror (1979), and even lost a court case.

Crappy film.
