One of the all time horror greats for sure he's bloody brilliant in Witchifnder General.

I heard he was a very likeable person who had a rather interesting private life, though as I recall, no one ever really had anything bad to say about him.

Yeah by all accounts a nice guy apart from to Robert Quarry although I can understand Price's reasons even if he was a bit harsh.

I hated his voice.

Just kidding.

Don't know that story. I heard Bela Lugosi, in spite of his addictions was a pretty decent guy and Boris Karloff is said to be a true gentleman.

The story goes in the early 70's Price's 10 year contact with American International Pictures was coming to an end and because he had just turned 60 the company was gearing up Quarry to replace him so Price was bitter about and on the set of one of the movies they did together Quarry was signing on set and he said to Price that he bet Price never knew he could sign to which Price replied he didn't but he knew he couldn't act.

Yeah by all accounts Lugosi was a good guy same with Karloff and they had a good working relationship but they weren't the best buddies due to different interests outside acting. Lugosi on the set of his last film nearly got himself beaten up by Lon Chaney Jr after Lugosi was talking thrash about him.

One of the all time greats indeed. That voice was unforgettable. His best work was in the Edgar Allen Poe films, but he was superb in Witchfinder General.

Yeah Witchfinder isn't his best movie but certainly his best performance. What Poe films have you seen of his brah and btw did you watch Abbott And Costello Meet Frankenstein ?

I've seen

House of Usher

The Raven.

The Pit and The Pendulum

Tomb of Ligeia

The Masque of the Red Death.

The latter is the best one followed by The Raven with a cast that includes Boris Karloff, Peter Lorre and Jack Nicholson. What's not to love. You could include Tales of Terror which has bits of Poe in it.

I will have seen Abbott and Costello by the end of the week, brah. Rating to follow.

The Raven is my favorite of the series brah. Although it's not based on a Poe story but rather H.P. Lovecraft The Haunted Palace (1963) is up on Dailymotion it stars Price and Lon Chaney Jr as his henchman.

Hope you enjoy Abbott and Costello today I'll be watching Abbott And Costello Meet The Killer, Boris Karloff.

Price was great. A true icon 👍 House On Haunted Hill, Theatre Of Blood and Witchfinder General are my favourites of his.

He's less camp in films like The Eve of St. Mark and The Song of Bernadette where he played supporting roles but he knew what payed the bills and played up beautifully.

Haven't seen The Eve Of St. Mark but The Song Of Bernadette I have and he was good as far as I remember.

You'll probably find it on YouTube but I watched it during the 1980s at 2.30am when ITV first started doing all night TV and I didn't have a video machine yet.

Indeed. He's a marvelous actor.

For no mere mortal can resist
The evil...of the thriller...

Vincent Price is simply marvelous. I don't think he was capable of giving a "bland" or "boring" performance.

One of the most distinguished and iconic horror movie stars. Very few in his league. Cushing and Chris Lee probably.

House of Wax, and House on Haunted Hill are my favourites of his starring roles; Laura is another wonderful movie of his, but he is only a supporting role in the film. The Oblong Box is another good one, and The Tingler is fun as well, but the story is sillier than most of what I've just mentioned.

House Of Wax 7/10
House On Haunted Hill 8/10
The Oblong Box 7/10
The Tingler 6/10

Vincent Price is truly one of my favorites of all-time and always will be. From his facial expressions to his execution, he delivered perfectly almost every time.

Doesn't he sound like one of the mice from Pinky & The Brain?
