Anyone seen this? I was out of town today and happened to pass by a theater that was showing it, so I said what the heck.
I thought it wasn't bad. Definitely not up there with Woody's great films, but not bad. I thought it had a strong first act, but then the last half of it felt kind of rushed, and there were a few too many coincidences in the way the plot resolved. It seemed like Woody was trying to recapture the mood of Match Point, but I think he missed the mark a bit.
Joaquin was good, and he even grew a rather hefty pot-belly for the role, which is admirable.
I would kind of like to see it again in a few months.

Oh yeah.. one weird thing about the soundtrack is that they kept using the song The "In" Crowd by the Ramsey Lewis Trio which happens to start with a bit of applause. So all throughout the movie, you'd get a short round of applause at random times.
Joaquin takes a drink.. *applause*
Emma Stone walking down the street.. *applause*
We could debate about whether or not these actions are worthy of applause, but to me it was just kind of odd.
