I know MANY people complained about the acting of Jake Lloyd & Hayden Christensen, who would you have cast in the role of young Anakin in Episode I and as older Anakin in Episodes II & III?

It wouldn't make any difference. Lucas was to blame for those performances. You could have had Leonardo DiCaprio playing Anakin and it would still have sounded like "I .... am ... a ... sh itty .... character ..... who ..... doesn't .... make .... any sense".

Hayden Christensen seem pretty much perfect for what Lucas was going for IMO.

Jake Lloyd and Hayden Christensen. Both were fine in the role.
