Worst Director in Your Opinion and Why?
1 Name: Anonymous : 2015-07-26 13:25
In your opinion, who is the worst director and why? Please share who you think is the worst director in the most artfully worded manner as possible! ;) This is not meant to offend those that enjoy a particular directors films. It serves as a venting ground for frustration and is intended to be fun!! So share your worst offenders!
The title of worst director easily goes to Paul W.S. Anderson. Anderson has no idea how to craft a story, dialogue, characters or plot. Watching his films is like being repeatedly hit in the face with face with a scalding hot frying pan. Although the brain damage someone receives from being hit in the head might make his films enjoyable, but I doubt it!
Anderson is a worse director than Uwe Boll. Which I know is a strong statement, so I'll explain why. Anderson is given franchises that have incredible potential, but he finds a way to destroy any film he touches. Incredible ideas like Aliens Vs Predator or Resident Evil get twisted into an unwatchable cancer. The dialogue is akin to verbal diarrhea. A child has a better understanding of human behavior and speech patterns. The terrible dialogue is only surpassed by the poignantly atrocious characters and plot. He's like the Ebola of directors. Watching his films should be considered torture and illegal under the Geneva Convention. Anderson has no redeemable characteristics and should be banned from filmmaking.
The runner up is Michael Bay. And don't even get me started on Bay! He is a far worse offender for his crimes against childhood memories and destruction of incredible Franchises. But his movies are more (*shudder*) watchable than Anderson's. Regardless of causing an incalculable amount of damage.

Michael Camino was a great director but really made a bags of it with heavens gate and desperate hours.

Michael Winner. With the vast majority of directors I can find at least one film I like, even Ed Wood and Uwe Boll. With Winner he didn't make a single film I could honestly say I liked and he made some truly awful ones.

If we remove completely independent one chance are he is in Bollywood or Nollywood, they make so much movies and have thousand of director working.
I really doubt that any director we can name have a realistic shot to the title of worst director, certainly not accomplish director with a huger history of success and mega production going smoothly like Michael Bay, you cannot be serious.

Out if directors I've seen more than a couple of films from I think I rate Spielberg and Jackson the lowest.

Coleman Francis since all his films can be considered the worst ever AND all of them were featured on MST3K, which is saying a lot. Anyone who doesn't say CF either hasn't seen his films or are just trolling.

Spielberg. He can't even light a set properly.

>>5,7Even I who don't think highly of Spielberg would say his movies generally have good if not great lighting.

Brian Levant. Not all of his movies are terrible overall, but they all have bad directing, as in, they look awful.
As for Paul WS Anderson, you forgot something important: Milla Jovovich. She's proven on certain ocasions that she can be a good actress, but her worst performances were in his movies. Not to mention how the character in THE 3 MUSKETEERS was unnecessarilly given a bigger role just because of her.

Judd Apatow, his movies are just highbrow Adam Sandler vehicles. Same plot, male or female, and for God's sake why do they have to be TWO HOURS long?

polanski and everyone knows why

I was gonna mention Paul WS Anderson. I like Mortal Kombat as a guilty pleasure but the rest of his films are really bad. Event Horizon takes the prize as the worst. Uwe Boll has made some stinkers too and Rob Zombie is dreadful too. Michael Bay is a decent director. The direction is not the problem in his films.

Eiter Ulli Lommel or David Decuto.
Ulli Lommel has made so many crappy films with no effort put into them. Just really low budget kill films with art filters.
David DeCoteau makes very low budget films with very homoerotic tones. Again very little effort put into them.

Paul Feig: I think his films are all trying to be too hard and he is trying to make us feel like Melissa McCarthy is the funniest person to come out of America. Never laughed at any of his films. Plus he is remaking Ghostbusters.

Troy Duffy. Not only is he an arrogant dick (as seen here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2Ujf9Qp66M) but he is an incompetent writer and director who has made the two worst films of all time (being The Boondock Saints and The Boondock Saints II: All Saint's Day).

Can't really take people serious when they say things like Steven Spielberg. The days of criticizing Spielberg should have disappeared after the 80's when he proved he wasn't going away.

The mysterious R. Winer. He made exactly one film, and it's almost certainly the worst that ever has been, and ever will be, made. So, it's really got to be him...
