Garbage? Maybe. Scenes that go on forever showing a man smoke and drink and a lot of self loathing. This movie could have been so much better if it took the concept it had and turned it into a screenplay rather than simply a visual experience, I can make inferences and I do but that doesn't make the film good or meaningful. Its negative portrayal of superficial celebrity life is funny given how superficial this film actually is, I could have made it and so could you. The guy is, as he describes, 'nothing'...he has nothing to say...fair enough, but why doesn't anyone else? Why is there not a single bit of dialouge in this film that pushes you to think? A potentially great film ruined by Copolla's delusions about the power of silence and brooding in film. If you haven't got a great script you sure as hell better make a visceral experience, but the bland cinematography and camerawork in this film is painful. Shame on you Coppola, shame on you! Some scenes weren't too bad, like the face mask thing and the pool side shot...but it's not enough. Style over substance wank. ARGH!

I personally loved it. Not as good as Lost in Translation, but a lot darker. I felt that most of the extremely long scenes had a purpose for their length, and I really sympathised with both main characters. Dilemma chose to tell the story through quiet moments and visuals, and I liked it. It's definitely a divisive film, though.
