Ghostbusters remake and misogynist.

People saying those who hate the idea of new Ghostbusters are misogynist are missing the point a little. I have no problem with them all being women. Hell, I have no real problem with a Ghostbusters remake at all... What I do have a problem with is the fact that the 'women only' angle is being used as a selling point. The original Ghostbusters wasn't sold as an 'all male' Ghostbusters, but with this, they're playing up the fact that it's a gender thing...

You have a valid point, for sure. Of course, those who would label you misogynist for this probably wouldn't listen to your point.

My problem with the film is that they hired such unfunny women. Wiig is the only cast member who, I think, has any real talent.

It's become the new paradigm. Idiotic knee-jerk accusations have replaced thought.

It's the hallmark of an intellectual coward.

Who are you trying to convince? I've always considered Anonymous to be more of a misanthrope, the egalitarian approach.

I'm trying to convince nobody, it's just based on a few things I've heard - that if you object to the new Ghostbusters then you're automatically a mysoginist. Bullshit.

Don't waste your time battling things you've heard.

Ahh, but it's from friends.

Then you ought to bite down and check the quality of those friendships.

I think you should point out to whoever is telling you this, that this idea is misogynistic itself. It assumes that we women are not individuals with minds and individual goals. Treating women with respect sometimes means recognizing that the presence of women doesn't always merit automatic praise.

Personally, I just really think they should've left the franchise alone.

I agree. I think Columbia was just getting frustrated with a 3rd film being in development hell for so long, that they felt they just had to finally get something made.

Let's just all proclaim ourselves Nazi Satanists and be done with it.

And we don't really know if Paul Feig is a right director for 'Ghostbusters'.

Plus a 150m+ production budget (it's the rumor), is asking for trouble.

Isn't that a standard for big-budget films?

Yes, but McCarthy and Feig's movies are usually lower budgeted, and they don't do that well overseas. Sony must really be desperate.

I agree. I'm not looking forward to it at all.

I like it because it's one step closer to creating huge demand for a real Ghostbusters 3.

Both Ghostbusters 1 and 2 failed the Bechdel Test, but most movies do.

Switch it around, create a male test, and few movies would fail.

What knothead thought that one up? That test is an insult to women.

Someone tested it for: movie release in indie festival, wrote by a woman with a woman lead character, around 50% of those movie failed the reversed male test.

That's because there are so few films written by a woman with a woman lead character.

I think it is also a bit because they are not many character with dialogue not involving the main one in movies. To have 2 supporting character having a conversation not involving the main one will not happen all the time in all movies, for those 2 to be woman you reduce the odds once again.

Making it "normal half of the time" to not pass the test or the reserve test accordingly to the sex of the main character of the movie.

And because like you said, you rarely had a woman lead character in blockbuster movie, a lot of them should be expected to fail the test.
