What ever happened with "The Green Inferno"?

They had the world premiere of this in Chile before Xmas, but I decided to wait for the Netflix premiere because I can't stand Eli Roth.

It seems foolhardy to try to re-create the cinematic experience of "Cannibal Holocaust" when: 1. you KNOW that everything in it is faked (a lot of people THOUGHT the original was an unsimulated "snuff" film, and the animal slaughter, unfortunately, was unsimulated), and 2. you are seeing it in a safe modern-day theater as opposed to a NYC grindhouse where there is a decent chance you could be stabbed to death during the opening credits.

The fact that it promises "aberrant violence" and "brief graphic nudity" (whatever THAT is) sounds intriguing. Maybe I'll re-create the "Cannibal Holocaust" experience myself by inviting a bunch of dangerously unhinged street people over when I watch it on Netflix.

I'm also usually against them putting Hollywood actors in horror re-makes, but "Alan" and "Fay" would be perfect roles for Justin Beiber and Selene Gomez, respectively. Then they can disappear for the rest of their careers and pretend they were eaten by cannibals--or they could just REALLY be eaten by cannibals (along with Roth and his crew), which would save on a lot of unconvincing CGI effects.

Anyway, did anyone see this?. . .

Lol I dont mind Eli Roth. This film has been in the back of my head for about a year. I often wonder if/when I'll get to see it. Do you live in the US?

Is it supposed to be released on Netflix and no theaters? I'll definitely watch it that way.

Eli Roth did an interview in January in which he stated there are still plans for a theatrical release, likely in August or September -- this is the latest news I can find, though I imagine things may still be up in the air. If it were going to have a release that soon, I would think it would be set and we'd know about it?

Been waiting for this for a while! As long as it's gruesome and f#cked up I'll be happy.

Of course it can never reach the epic-ness of the original but I like that it's an homage to a great classic.

I don't particularly dislike or like Eli Roth, I like Cabin Fever (and his Thanksgiving trailer for Grindhouse was all sorts of awesome) but I wasn't a big fan of the Hostels (decent concept but mediocre execution).

I've been looking forward to The Green Inferno for a long time now. Like sepsism above me, I'm not exactly an Eli Roth fan, but nor am I a hater. Cabin Fever was fun, and I appreciate his obvious devotion to gory horror & lowbrow exploitation. Also, I doubt even Roth would claim that his film is a serious attempt to "re-create the cinematic experience of Cannibal Holocaust." More like, "provide a couple hours of dumb, grisly fun."

Roth is hit or miss with me. I like Hostel, hate Cabin Fever, and there's things I like and hate about Hostel 2. But I would like to see this (haven't, though).

According to Facebook, Eli Roth. got captured by Bloodthirsty Cannibals, during an interview about this film in January..

The footage has not yet been found.

it is probably divine punishment, for his performance in inglorious basterds.

I've pondered the question with my vast mind and the answer lies in the title
'the green inferno'

the green = marijuana
inferno = lit

basically the film was made under the influence of a lot of the green stuff and when they got the shot footage back into the editing room in LA, they found out it basically was shìt, note this doesn't mean it was the shìt, it just was shìt .

I've had it on my watchlist for ages, but as yet I have not seen it online anywhere. I'll have to be patient.
