Amityville II: The Possession (1982)

I watched the original and I know that some people consider it to be a classic etc. and that's all good but it just didn't work for me. I thought it was slow (bad kind of slow), boring, characters weren't so interesting, the scares weren't good and some were pretty cheesy.

I aboslutely love haunted house movies but I was pretty disappointed by this. I watched the fourth movie and that's pretty much all I saw of this series.

I keep hearing often that the second one is the best.

Should I check it out?

"Amityville 2" is interesting, if a bit unsavoury at times. "Amityville-3D" is a craptastic movie to check out for unintended laughs.

So far the only movie where I prefer the remake over the original. I also thought the original was pretty bad, I remember they discovered that wall and nothing was done with it, I was wth now what is the whole mystery? At least in the remake they do explain and there is the little girl haunting the place.

Have not watch any of the sequels, I even forgot it had sequels.

Yeah, I preferred the remake too, it was a little better, certainly less boring.

It's batshit crazy, which is why I like it. Just about everything under the sun is thrown into that thing. It's definitely worth checking out if you like bizarre, silly 80's flicks.

I've never rented "Amityville II" and watched it all the way through, but I've basically caught the entire movie in bits and pieces over the years on TV viewings. It's definitely worth watching. It's basically an "Exorcist" ripoff, but very well done. The possession scene, with an invisible demon jumping up and down on the guy's stomach and his face changing, is awesome. It also has a grody incest scene.

The Possession is the best one but is still not very good, especially when it becomes a blatant Exorcist ripoff in the third act.

Odd you making this thread as I was thinking about the film yesterday.

It's the most disturbing one I've seen out of the first, the remake, and that dumb About Time one. Not seen the others.

Definitely worth a watch, though you probably want a cold shower afterwards.

I personally loved both, but I definitely would recommend "Amityville II: The Possession". IMO, its actually better than the original, because it has a stronger story, a better leading character in Father Adamsky (played great by James Olsen), and I really loved the darker atmosphere the second film had (it practically swims in it).

It beats the third film by a mile. Just watched it and it makes even Exorcist II look good.

Don't waste your time on III. At the end, the demon blow-torches Robert Joy's face and turns into a pile of C-4.
