AKA: Terror at the Opera
Incredible emotion and tension throughout this film. The Sadism and Masochism murder scenes had such eroticism, that they were originally cut, for the VHS version I first saw.
I later found the full version and the Japanese soundtrack, which were so beautiful and cathartic.
I didn't wank over such scenes, but they felt like such freedom of dangerous art. Sweet sadism that isn't even matched in crap like the Saw films.
Perhaps Argento's last great movie. He was so sad after making it he never reached that level of greatness again, and it shows.

I think both Mother of Tears and The Stendhal Syndrome were better than Opera.
