Sarcasm In Movies

Is it me, or has sarcasm kinda gotten out of hand in horror (or any other genre, I suppose).

Lately it seems that I can't watch a horror film without every character either asking or answering a question with a sarcastic remark. It is like I'm watching a movie filled with sarcasm and jump-scares. And sometimes I don't even care about the characters development if all I hear for 90 minutes is sarcasm.

Hell, even when things get serious for characters about to die, they'll sometimes use sarcasm as a last word.

Last Phases could have been much better (despite the bad Werewolf costumes) had the lead character pulled back from using sarcasm in every scene. I still kinda liked the film a little, though.

Yeah, a lot of modern novels are like that too. They think if audiences don't hear a witty remark every 30 seconds they'll get bored.
