SAMUEL JACKSON SAID WHAT?
1 Name: Anonymous : 2014-10-10 11:12
Can someone explain why this movie is so highly regarded by my generation? I'm 22 and it's like this movie makes you cum. I have seen it almost twice and still really can't say it was interesting except for maybe a few self referencing gimmicks and SAMUEL JACKSON SAID WHAT?!?!

You just don't understand anything about pacing or writing.

Here is your answer...
I have seen it almost twice
almost twice
What, are you almost 12? When you grow up and the GoGurt scales fall from your eyes and the RedBull dries from behind your ears and you've seen almost more than 200 films then you'll almost be able to appreciate directors other than Michael Bay.

Like most things that were groundbreaking, they loose their edge 20 years later. When this movie came out it was unlike anything before it. It was fresh, different, and fucking awesome. This movie changed how movie storytelling.
But sooo many movies have been influenced by it since, a lot of the movies you grew up with took cues and concepts from this so by the time you saw it, it's not as fresh and different. Kind of like a really influential band like the Beatles. If you listen it just sounds kind of lame by today's standards, but at the time it was crazy influential game changing shit.

>>1 Dear OP, you are such a poes.
You know exactly what makes this movie great. It's unconventional in that it attempts to see behind the veil of henchmen etc. and show that they have ordinary conversations like the rest of us (if you noticed, most of the questions discussed could of been threads here).
So stop being a doos, and just know greatness when you see it.

The problem with Pulp Fiction is that it has been ripped off and copy-catted so many times that it makes it seem cheap and cliché to younger fags. The same way that Kill Bill is like watching a fucking Mazda commercial now. What makes the movie great to an older generation is that it paved the way for dialogue driven, beautifully written films about people. It was one of the first of it's kind. I get what you are saying though. I tried to watch Kill Bill with the gf (ten years younger) a few weeks back and she thought it was clown shoes.
I guess really you had to be there to get it young friends.

>>19Your post actually reminds me of why I think that I don't like it that much more than any other reason...
It's self important. It relies on new ideas and flashy topics to cover up the underlying shallowness of the plot. Also, popular actors.
It's just for show. No true depth.

6 years ago in my homeland of Britbongistan, I came across a giant model of a cigarette butt in the middle of Trafalgar Square. This was part of a campaign to remind the citizens of London to discard their cigarette butts in the trash instead of leaving them on the ground. I'd say the model cigarette was about 10 meters high and 3 around.
Why am I bringing this up? Well, I just thought I'd tell you the only time I've ever seen a bigger fag than OP.

>>20Also, popular actors.
When the movie came out the actors in it weren't as famous as they are now.
John Travolta was in an especially downward spiral and a lot of people credit this movie for saving his career the same way people credit Iron Man for saving Robert Downey's career.

>>1 you son of a bitch quentin tarantino's movies are extraordinary , are alternative he is the first american director that gives different messages in his.movies , usually american directors give messages like love.america , fuck afghan , america always wins , he gives different simple messages and make you think abouy some stuffs such as why do we tip sb , or why an object is so important for someone

>>20 popular actors
Those actors became popular BECAUSE of pulp fiction you twit.
It doesn't need to have depth. That was the point of the movie, it just didn't give a fuck. It was just awesome part after awesome part. That's why people like it.

Literally had the same reaction with my uncle about the Beatles. Then had a music buff show me a timeline of music and how far ahead the Beatles were on so many levels. Might not love them like others, but I respect the crap out of them.

Faggot wannabe racist people get a hard on over the fact that Quentin Tarantino not only gets to use the term "Nigger" but he gets to angrily ask Samuel L. Jackson to his face if his home looks like a "Dead nigger storage" without getting the living shit smacked out of him. Between that and having a giant ass black dude like Ving Rhames get raped in the ass and then saved by Bruce Willis in the same script, it's like a hate fag's wet dream. That's it, that's the whole fucking reason this shitty movie is regarded as such a cornerstone of modern film while movies like "Inglorious Basterds" or "Kill Bill Volumes 1 & 2" and "Django Unchained" are not recognized for their performances. Usually racism is a matter of push and pull mixed with pre-established hate toward any group, so the parents feel a certain way because they've been wronged by someone of that color, or someone that color fucked someone over or something and then they bitch about it throughout the kid's whole childhood, and then the kids use that as a point of reference for anything negative that happens in their life involving someone of their particular chosen hated race.

Same shit with women, that's why so many men hate em, a mixture of everyone claiming how shitty they are because they're impulsive enough to date someone for years knowing they probably won't stay, and carefree enough to not give a shit when they move on to someone better. Plus dick size has a lot to do with it, which is controlled and affected by addictions and debilitating foods, drinks, and indulgences. Cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, coffee, tea, soft drinks, porn, it all contributes toward making sure there are some with stunted growth and some in peak physical form. They start you young and then by the time you realize any of this shit your entire window of pubescent opportunity to benefit from growth spurts is gone. That's why women move on, men call them "whores" dudes who are hung are assholes, and rich men are some of the worst people on the planet. You want a better world? do two things, make every dick the same size, and get rid of diseases. That way there's no physical risk in cheating, but every woman gets to ride a miniature horse. Chim chimeney, chim chim charoo. Big dicks up your pussy, don't you try booty too.

No, assholes by their nature can't cooperate enough to run a war. You'll perish for lack of collective will to defend yourselves against organized bigger assholes (ie. Islam).
either did we pollute our earth as much as you did,
You are all ignorant feminists who hate technology because it's too complicated for you to understand, so of course you didn't.
ignoring the fate of us/our children.
true

Nah, I just avoid your company. You have nothing interesting to say anyway.

>>30not buying all of that. ving got raepd by white rednecks. thats turning a 180 on the racial stereotype issues of the big scary black rapist and playing up the freaky hick stereotype. not to mention the gay of it all that is in part taken from tarantinos fetish for exploitation movies.
39 Name: Anonymous : 2014-10-12 20:38
>>38Kay...I don't disagree that it was an exploitation movie, but I think people downplay how much he was exploiting the blatant and borderline racist population by writing these scenes. The whole movie doesn't really have a point, it's just setups for memorable one liners and "dead nigger storage" is definitely one that sticks out in a lot of people's minds. Another one would be "tell that bitch to be cool, tell her, say bitch be cool"
