Ok, I'm very excited for the new Predator sequel. SHANE BLACK is directing it! The dude who wrote Lethal Weapon, and wrote and directed Iron Man 3, tackling what is essentially Predator 6? Count me in! This dude just directed one of the highest grossing movies of all time; a billion dollar movie. He can do any movie he wants, yet he chooses this. The franchise has never had it so good.

The directors the other five movies were, at the time of their respective Predator film's production, nowhere near the level of skillful or successful as Shane Black. The original got some dude who did a low budget horror film, the second got the dude who did the fifth Freddy Krueger, AvP got the Resident Evil guy, AvP2 got some special fx brothers, Predators got the Vacancy dude. Ugh. Such awful choices. Someone finally got it right in letting Shane do the next one! What this series needs, and has always needed, was an action director. Someone who truly understands action. Yeah yeah John McTiernan does/did but Fox didn't truly know that at the time of hiring. They never should've hired these horror/thriller guys.

Anyway, I think this Predator sequel will be the one to break the equation. The Predator movies have always been the same, the locations being the only variables. This time they're in a jungle, this time they're in a city, this time they're in the Antarctic! Always the same. Just a group of people getting killed one by one with one or two survivors.

These movies need a true budget behind them. A big budget. Something that is now a possibility with Shane Black directng. Someone like him can command a big budget, as opposed to the Vacancy dude.

I think this Predator film will be to Predator, what T2 is to The Terminator. There will be a progression. One is a low/moderate budget horror/action film, and the sequel will be a big scifi action film with minimal horror.

I believe this Predator film won't be about deaths and killing, and elaborate sequences of carnage, but instead something with exciting, big action set pieces. I don't think Shane Black is going to a movie where the predator is basically an intergalactic Jason Voorhees. Because 1) he wouldn't come back to a dying franchise unless he had a really compelling idea, I mean again, he's the IRON MAN 3 dude 2) Iron Man 3 (it definitely stirred the pot and polarized some hardcore fans) 3) he said it himself, he wants to explore and expand the rich mythology 4) he's Shane Black. He's smart.

It might even be PG13. And I'd be ok with it. I want a cool, new thinkpiece scifi with bonafide action set pieces. And I think we're going to get that.

I think each of the Predator films added a different element which I appreciated in each one. The original film is just plain awesome. Predator 2 gave us a sleek more ninja like predator, it also started the "AVP" battle by placing the Xenomorph skull on the Predator ship.

AVP was cool because it was the first film to feature a team of predators, although they were a terrible team that got killed very easily.

AVPR has a weak spot on my heart because it takes place in Colorado, and I live in Colorado.

Predators just had the most bad ass super predators of all the films. The Falconer, The Tracker, and The Berserker were all awesome. I hope this new Predator film has multiple predators, and I hope their designs are awesome.

Won't be as good as Predator but has to top that AVP crap. Maybe.

Predators hunt in hot climates. Its specifically stated in the first 2 movies.
I hope its not pg13. That would be disappointing.

What I want is The Expendables vs Predators. That would be badass.
Have the Expendables being hunted by a predator, then arnold reveal himself to be dutch and have a final showdown with Barney and Dutch killing the predator.

i liked them all, even better than most alien sequels, with exception of aliens.

Technically, the franchise has had it so good as Black played Hawkins in the original.

I'd like it to take place on Earth again. I'm not against a cameo by Schwarzenegger, but chances are that won't happen. It might be nice if they touched more on the blood feud between Predators, but I had never heard of that before PREDATORS, so do or don't do.
