HUMONGOUS (1982)

Anyone a fan of Paul Lynch's HUMONGOUS (1982)? I actually like it more than Lynch's earlier effort, PROM NIGHT (1980). It's not a great movie by any means, but its fun and, if you get the DVD, very enjoyable (there are often complaints of it being too dark, but I could see everything on the DVD).

The complaints of it being too dark was because of the VHS transfer. The DVD corrected this. Burial Ground was another notoriously dark movie on VHS before getting DVD-itized.

I like the movie. I like Prom Night too, but Humongous is actually suspenseful. Prom Night is cool simply for being a product of the disco era.

The complaints of it being dark were before the Scorpion Release DVD came out if that was the one you watched. Watching the transfer on that DVD was like watching a completely different movie. I used to think the movie was awful until I saw the DVD and now I think it is a very solid film.

I think it's an underrated slasher. Been a long time fan, even in the days when things were too dark, now thanks to the excellent DVD it's like watching a whole new movie. I love the island setting, the background story works well. I wish they would have taken more advantage to show Garry Robbin's 7' 5 height.
