What an awful movie. I loved the 1984 original, in fact it's an all time favorite for all genre's of movies for me, so I figured back in 2010 that I'd at least get some sort of enjoyment out of the remake.

Nope.

Honestly one of the worst horror movies I've ever seen. Alone in the Dark had more redeeming factors than this piece of crap.

Anyway I don't see this movie discussed much so wonder how many people despise it like I do. Or not.

It gets mentioned pretty often. It's not that good, but I don't think it's irredeemable. Jackie Earle Haley is fantastic, for one thing. Better than Robbie Englund ever was.

It looks nice and the dream sequences are well-done.

Script and acting are poor, I'll admit.

Worst remake? Well, I like a lot of them, so it may well be one of the worst.

It is a horrendous movie that gets talked about far to often if anything. Surprisingly it actually has people that like it or defend it. I usually could understand people liking just about anything no matter how bad but this movie is so useless on every level of filmmaking I just don't get any praise.

Honestly someone couldn't ruin this concept more if they did it on purpose.

This remake can be skipped entirely. First things first, why does Freddy Krueger look like a mutated sea otter? Whoever came up with that make-up should be permanently unemployed. Also, I did not like the actor who played Freddy (Jackie Earle Haley). His voice is somewhat irritating; for lack of a better term, he sounded like a mentally handicapped redneck. The characters have zero personality and the atmosphere is non-existent. There are also too many jump scares for my liking. As if all of this wasn’t bad enough, this film actually attempts to recreate certain scenes from the original and fails quite badly in one-upping them.

It's not quite as bad as Freddy's Dead, but that's not saying much.

The trailers were well enough to put me off, but must admit I'm a little curious so will give it a shot for the OC. (shrug) If ya do the Challenge, it's inevitable you run across some crap anyway. Ebo's mutated otter description just makes it more enticing.

I fully agree. There is not one redeeming factor about it. It was like a parady of the original film. I never cared less watch a movie. Its the worst horror film I ever seen and one of the worst movies I have ever seen in general.

It does have a lot of problem (bad writing and acting being the biggest problem) and the CGI was awful but I did really like it. It's the darkest Nightmare movie and I loved that they introduced micronaps even though I wanted more of that. The characters, while not better, felt more believable than anyone in the original and Jackie did great. I gave it an 8, really great but some of it is bad.
