I swear this must be one of the most unintentionally funny horror films I've ever seen. And unlike Don't Go in the Woods, where director James Bryan was indeed shooting for comedy, Boaz Davidson had set out to make a pure horror film with X-Ray. Boaz Davidson, of course, mostly well-known for making the same year's classic teen sex comedy, The Last American Virgin.

In X-Ray, Barbi Benton is at the hospital to pick up some test results, but you'd think she was in the mental ward instead! Everyone, including doctors, acts so peculiar. Come to think of it, even Ms. Benton herself acts bizarrely.

So she's being examed and groped (while naked...lol) and the doctor acts all menacing and suspicious, yet she never once asks him what the hell is going on or what he's doing. The camera takes these long, close-up shots of her eyes and it's apparent she's afraid, but nope, never says a thing. Then he goes toward her arm with a syringe and STILL doesn't mutter a word.

A drunk is in an elevator with her eating the most ketchup-y burger I've ever seen and tells him "he ought to be more careful" after it drips all over her nice white shoes. Really?! That's all you say??

At the end of the whole shebang, Ms. Benton, understandably shook up and disturbed after her ordeal at the 'Hospital Massacre' exits the main lobby doors the following morning looking bright and happy as if she hadn't spent the entire night trapped in the place with a madman. More like she just got off work.

One scene that I find really hilarious was when our heroine is running from the maniac and stumbles into a room with three people completely wrapped in bandages. She startles them, I guess, and they start flailing around and moaning, looking and acting like mummies! It was so unexpected and random.

All in all, a fun slasher with a really off kilter sense of humor.

Funnier than Pieces, I have to admit.

sounds good!
