Not an Arsenal fan but finishing consistently top four for nearly two decades is pretty astonishing without having Arab style monies to splash around.

between 1968 AND 1987 I missed only 1 and a half home games (the half was due to a hospital visit but I made the second half).
The Millwall "legend" is mostly a myth made up by the press and a hugely biased Panarama programme. We were certainly no worse than many other grounds I visited.
We were a feisty crowd that terrified the opponents but real violence was pretty scarce and as I say, far worse at west ham, Chelsea, Leeds Birmingham etc as their gates were much higher.
At least the game had a soul back then, the gutless top flight these days in frankly just embarrassing.

I've only been to the New Den once, and after the game we had the Millwall fans trying to force those big gates open, and then during the police escort to the station glass bottles and coins were being lobbed at us. Maybe I just caught Millwall on a bad night, I don't know, but it sure didn't seem like a myth to me.

I can never understand why people get so upset (or happy) over how their club performs. Plenty of other things in the world worth getting angry about, but not that.

No-one in that Arsenal side has anything to do with Highbury in a non-footballing sense. I can't believe all the fans were born within a mile of the ground either. It's only the Etihad ground itself that has a definite connection to the area.

So many fans are deluded, so much so that they'll brand some players traitors for daring to leave & improve their careers. Perhaps the club is the only thing those fans have in their lives worth smiling (& thus crying) about. How grim to be in that state.
