Can't really blame Liverpool for asking for it. The FA's racist rules - rules they want to make even more discriminatory - inflate the values of English players even more than they already are and City are struggling to meet them. I'm hopeful they get challenged in court, they're blatantly illegal.

Agreed about it being on dodgy grounds legally. It's certainly not the only rule that is questionable legally though. I'm surprised clubs like PSG & Man City who have backers with bottomless pits of money haven't challenged the FFP rules. Limiting sponsorship has a direct influence on how much a player can be paid so is clearly a restraint of trade.

City and particularly have threatened it, that's why UEFA have loosened the regulations. I don't think either side is willing to risk going to court over it.

fa's rules- no its UEFA's rules- they say you can only have a 17 man squad in CL football and a max of 25(so 8 home grown and home grown doesnt even mean english)

The FA's rules are about adding domestic players with zero limit on squad sizes so you could still potentially get foreign players and field a totally foreign team.

its different when you are restricted to a 25 man squad with a minimum of 8 home grown- Its UEFA that is hitting city not the FA. within the FA's rules all they have to do is promote there youth team to there PL squad- they dont even need to play them, but they can still buy as many foreign players as they want as long as they have the correct amount of domestic

You can't pick and choose when to apply a law. The law applies to everyone regardless of whether you're earning millions or on minimum wage. That's the very foundation of having fair laws.

It's both, and while technically it's not about nationality we all know it is designed to try and improve the national team by favouring English players. Premier League sides are limited to 25 men + U21s and a certain number of them must be trained in England or Wales for three years before the age of 21. That blatantly discriminates against foreigners.

That's far too early to tell if players will make it or not, it's morally questionable and it's illegal in a lot of cases. Greg Dyke wants to reduce the age to 15 and insist on 12 homegrown per squad.

Having poached him from QPR they have to give a large percentage of his transfer fee to them, so possibly another reason why they're holding out for a larger wad.
