Sunderland v West Brom (15:00 GMT)

A crowd of over 40,000 is expected at the Stadium of Light this afternoon and it's a big game for Sunderland boss Gus Poyet. The pressure has been dialled up on him after FA Cup defeat at Bradford - is today a chance to blow away the cobwebs?

Sunderland have won just one of their last eight Premier League matches. Sunderland have netted just six goals in their last nine Premier League home games.

Aston Villa v Stoke (15:00 GMT)

"If Tim Sherwood gets sufficient points in their remaining 13 games to keep Aston Villa in the gold mine of the Premier League, he'll be showered with praise. If he doesn't, the blame will fall at the feet of the previous regime.

"Peter Coates, the Stoke chairman, says the impact of a new manager is "50-50" in such circumstances. Unless, in my mind, you're Tony Pulis, who pulled Crystal Palace to safety last season, and is likely to do the same now for West Bromwich Albion.

"But I saw enough last Sunday, certainly in the second half against Leicester, to suggest that Sherwood can reinvigorate Villa."

Chelsea v Burnley (15:00 GMT)

"Burnley have won admirers this season but too few points. They've been in the bottom three for five of the six months since the start of the season.

"They were competitive again at Manchester United last week. They were beaten once more. This is the second game of a horrible eight-match sequence against teams currently in the top nine, and the forecast looks worrying.

"To be fair some of their best results have come against sides riding high. But they've self-destructed by taking just 11 points from a possible 33 against bottom-eight clubs."

Crystal Palace v Arsenal (15:00 GMT)

"The uplift that Alan Pardew's arrival has given Crystal Palace has been fantastic for the club. They have lost just one of five league games since he took over as manager and they are now clear of the relegation zone.

"They are obviously not safe yet, but the way they have pulled out of the bottom three will fill them with confidence for the rest of the season.

"The Eagles signed more players than any other club in the January transfer window, which means they now have options all over the pitch."

Gus Poyet got out his pen and paper this week to write an open letter to the Sunderland fans urging them to "stay positive and keep believing in what we started together last year.

Just weeks ago he criticised them for "living in the past" - now he's virtually begging for their support, but for the beleaguered head coach, the writing is on the wall - in big, bold capitals.

He's on borrowed time, and unless results and performances improve dramatically, he will become the latest managerial casualty in the Premier League.

Swansea v Manchester United (15:00 GMT)

"Louis van Gaal is still the subject of strong criticism. From the long-ball team, to not enough pace in the side, to Wayne Rooney's position, to four at the back, there's still much debate to be had about the new look Manchester United. You sense there always will be in the immediate future.

"Whilst many points often raised are valid ones, it's worth remembering when the Dutchman first arrived the importance of an immediate return to the Champions League wasn't overstated. The club also expect to be challenging for silverware. As it stands, he's on course to achieve both.

"The opening day victory for Swansea over Manchester United was one of the highlight's so far of Garry Monk's time in charge and he is now going for an unthinkable league double over the Red Devils."

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet on making five changes to the team knocked out of the FA Cup at Bradford: "For the first time in a while, we have a good squad together, so I would say we've picked a team with the character to play at home and try to win the game. We will see if it works.

"Lee Cattermole is definitely fit. Jermain Defoe - we will see.

"It's a big game. There are some times in a season when it looks as if you are getting better, and then there are setbacks. We need to make sure we start winning games. There are no excuses.

Everything is set - let's try to win the game."

West Brom boss Tony Pulis: "It's always a tough game here, and I don't think Sunderland will disappoint us in that respect. We've got to be ready to go.

"We've had a superb run and we need to keep it going. We will try to stay as solid as we can. We need to be nice and compact. We should gain confidence from our recent games because we've played so well."

Swansea v Manchester United (15:00 GMT)

"What the manager and players will say is that if you are getting the results it can manifest into performances but they have not been exciting.

"Against Preston they won 3-1 but was it convincing? No and that was against a League One side. They didn't have a shot on target until the second half again at Preston and they seem to play the same way in every game. It will be the same today until Van Gaal makes a change. He has really good in-game management which is a real strength."
