Vito Mannone plays in goal for Sunderland with Costel Pantilimon dropping down to the bench, while Ricardo Alvarez and Emanuele Giaccherini also start. Adam Johnson is out after needing surgery on a thumb injury and Sebastian Larsson also misses out.
