MTV deletes "White Guys" video
1 Name: Anonymous : 2016-12-22 00:54
Whatever ignorant pos created this stupid video in the first place needs to be fired. Maybe the DUMBEST thing I've ever seen a company do. Condescend and patronize and alienate a large swath of your audience and make others feel uncomfortable to boot? WHO does that? The left has come absolutely unglued. The only silver lining is that there is apparently at least one person at that company that recognized how STUPID this was and deleted the video. Cheers to common sense.

Update: MTV took down the video after less than 48 hours following an intense backlash from online commentators. A mirror is posted above because nothing can be deleted from the internet.
'MTV News' produced this video of proposed New Year's Resolutions for "white guys," because that group could "do a little better in 2017."
"Try to recognize that America was never 'great' for anyone who wasn't a white guy," the video urges America's white men, referring to Donald Trump's campaign slogan. "And learn what mansplaining is, then stop doing it."
It also advises them to: "Stop bragging about being 'woke.'"
"Just because you have black friends doesn’t mean you’re not racist. You can be racist with black friends," it clarifies. "And feel free to take Kanye West, though. You guys can have him." West met with Donald Trump last week.
As of this writing, the video had 89 'thumbs up' votes on Youtube and 11,922 'thumbs down' votes.
"I'm not even white, and this rustled my jimmies," one YouTuber said.
Transcript via Newsbusters:
WHITE MALE #1: Hey, fellow white guys!
NON-WHITE MALE #1: It’s about to be a new year.
BLACK MALE #1: And there’s a few things we think you could do a little bit better in 2017.
[ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: 2017 Resolutions for White Guys]
NON-WHITE FEMALE #1: First off, try to recognize that America was never great for anyone who wasn’t a white guy.
NON-WHITE FEMALE #2: Can we all just agree that Black Lives Matter isn’t the opposite of all lives matter? Black lives just matter. There’s no need to overcomplicate it.
WHITE MALE #1: Also, Blue Lives Matter isn’t a thing.
BLACK MALE #1: Cops weren’t born with blue skin — right? I mean — yeah! They weren’t born blue.
WHITE MALE #2: Stop bragging about being woke.
NON-WHITE MALE #1: Stop saying woke.
WHITE FEMALE #1: Learn what mansplaining is and then stop doing it.
WHITE MALE #1: Oh, and if you’re a judge, then don’t prioritize the well-being of an Ivy League athlete over the woman he assaulted.
BLACK MALE #1: We all love Beyonce and yeah, she’s black, so of course she cares about black issues. I’m talking to you, Fox News.
NON-WHITE FEMALE #2: Feel free to take Kanye West, though. You guys can have him.
BLACK MALE #1: You know what you did, Kanye.
WHITE MALE #2: Nobody who has black friends says that they have black friends.
BLACK MALE #1: And just because you have black friends doesn’t mean you’re not racist. You can be racist with black friends.
NON-WHITE MALE #1: Look, guys, we know nobody’s perfect.
NON-WHITE FEMALE #1: But — honestly, you can do a little better in 2017.
WHITE FEMALE #1: Some of you guys do a great job. Some of you don’t.
BLACK MALE #1: Please cause 2016 was bad. 2017 can’t be worse than this, alright? Cause this is bad.

What are we up to now, quadrupling down? Quintupling down? It's like they want to lose the next election too.

I know! They are UNHINGED, to the point they can't see straight, doing so many things to ensure their continued marginalization. The problem seems to be they don't even realize they are in the margins! They honestly think this is how most people feel even though the other side is winning record elections on the state and national level. I think we are seeing mass psychosis the likes of which have never before been seen.

Condescend and patronize and alienate a large swath of your audience and make others feel uncomfortable to boot? WHO does that?
At least two movie studios in recent times: Sony and Disney who merrily give/gave 'the finger' to the evidently despised demographic that predominately comprises their core audience (excluding the Chinese market): white blokes, for the lucrative Ghostbusters and Star Wars franchises respectively.
They did/do this because they calculatingly labour under the arrogant - yet sadly shrewd, presumption that the aforementioned demographic will dutifully go and watch films belonging to iconic franchises anyway, no matter how much open contempt is shown towards them by said film's directors, writers, producers etc.
Evidently such a poor, ideogically-charged and needlessly divisive attitude doesnt always work out though as the truly sh^te (on multiple levels) Ghostbusters reboot flop deftly proved...
Regardless, expect to see much more of this extreme minority pandering and contempt for the majority in the coming years. Sadly.

Also, Blue Lives Matter isn’t a thing.
Really?
Wow, I didn't know it was up to MTV to decide that.

We just elected him president.

lol Touché But in all fairness, I didn't see him condescend to people as much as others condescended to him and his supporters.
This MTV video was an abomination. Just awful judgment by that network to run something so offensive and unnecessarily antagonizing.

People see things differently depending on which side of the issue their own. Trump and his supporters were way worse that his detractors in my opinion. But I suppose if you support him then you see it differently.
Although I agree with pretty much every point on this list of suggestions to white guys, it is condescending and certainly a double standard. There would be much more backlash if this was a list of suggestions for women or minorities coming from a bunch of white guys. I do feel like white men have become whiny little pansies in recent years because they can't take the heat they're used to dishing out. But we all need to do a better job of communicating without antagonizing each other.

Fair enough. At least we agree the video was in poor taste.

Can you show me when white males have made videos setting out New Year's Resolutions for women and minorities? As far as I know, even back in the 50's white men weren't doing this kind of crap.

Actully what you're feeling is white men starting to act like every other political identity group out there.
Don't like it? Tough *beep* really. What goes around comes around.

Tsk Tsk delusional, racist, cultural marxists just can't seem to take a hint it seems.
You would think that Brexit, the election of Trump, the rise of nationalism etc would have given them a hint that most people are tiring of their collectivist BS.
But
I guess they must suffer from autism or some other social disorder, where reading social cues from others is very hard for them.

They deleted the original post on YouTube when the nays reached 34,000 then reposted it later, where again it reached 30,000 only this time in a matter of hours, then took it down again (apparently) for good.
I think they thought it was trolls the first time.

This is a shame. It's the sort of video that is stating things that many white people need to hear, even if they don't like hearing it.
Straight white men who go around claiming to be "woke" because they hold some enlightened liberal positions are particularly embarrassing. It's very presumptuous. As if they are able to decide how well they understand what women, people of color, and other marginalized groups have gone through in our deeply bigoted society.
I've often been referred to as being very woke, but I always leave that for others to judge. I make a sincere effort to help bring about change, but that's all I can really do.

When you say that, along with the tenor of that video, you give the impression that no matter how egalitarian you are, you are automatically guilty just because a person is white.
Smells like ass in here

I don't care about any of those things seeing as I don't have time to navel gaze over trivial things that don't matter due to having actual obligations and responsibilities.
