Jimi Hendrix innovated and did things no other guitarist did before him, but his stuff isn't too hard. A lot of people can mimic JImi Hendrix to the tee, but they can't come up with original and new ways to play.

Honestly, I'd say skill is subjective.

What counts as the best? Hardest to play? Originality? Speed?

There's a lot of factors to consider.

I personally never dwell to much into technical/complex stuff one musician can make and play , for me its pure sound that he created from his mind through guitar that gives me goosebumps when I hear first second of it. Its like a natural frequency trigger in me . I believe many feel this way too about their favourite frequency/sound.

Adam Jones paints a picture with his guitar that is darker than any of those assholes....he isn't at the level of technical proficiency as the top tier guitar players that you mentioned but he has taken guitar playing to a darkness that has never been seen before. Tony Iommi couldn't have ever imagined going to the level of Adam Jones.

Blackmore and Page influenced way more than anyone else. Though everyone always bitches about Page stealing from niggers, so I dunno.

Also, at the risk of sounding like a faggot, what exactly did EVH bring to the table? I get that everyone wanted to copy his tone, but weren't there a bunch of other players doing the same style as him during his prime? Page and Blackmore have diversity, I just feel like Eddie was/is a one trick pony.

I value your argument and opinion but dont call other artists "assholes" , they made something from their mind to make my/yours life better in a way we couldnt even imagine possible before hearing them for the first time . Its like universe send them to spread those vibrations of wonder.I also listen to Tool though. And all of the above other guitarists and their respected projects.
