I have a minimum of 8 knives on me at all times. If I'm within a 30 ft radius of an attacker or assailant even if he has a gun I will fare better with my knives. I'll have a blade out and sprint that 30 feet and have it stuck into your skull before you can even get your pistol unholstered let alone get a precise shot off on me.
