Muslims burn Dortmund's oldest church

1 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 15:29
A mob of a thousand people yelling "Allah hu Akbar" set Germany's oldest church on fire on New Years Eve.

http://www.therebel.media/1000_strong_mob_set_germany_s_oldest_church_on_fire_on_nye

Goodbye Germany! you knew all along that Hitler was right.

What was the name of this church? The article seems to have forgotten to mention it. Normally I'd take that as a sign that the story is total bullshït, but I'm sure that's not the case here.
3 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 15:40
Breitbart says it was St Reinold's.
4 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 15:44
They messed up for the millionth time then since that is the oldest church in Dortmund, not in Germany. If you believe them without checking elsewhere, you are behaving foolishly.
5 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 15:48
I think the point is more that they attacked an historic church, not its exact age.
6 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 15:52
You're more mad at them getting the Church wrong than the Muslims who burned the Church LOL
7 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 16:00
What, this St Reinold's?

http://www.sanktreinoldi.de/

The one that is showing a busy events calendar for January despite being burnt?

I'm calling bullshït on this story, and anybody who believes it a gullible fool.

Setting something on fire doesn't mean it's been destroyed.
9 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 16:10
You're right. Maybe the Merkel government quickly put out the fire and fixed the church roof before anybody noticed it had been burnt. Thank God Breitbart were on hand to witness the occasion and Tell us The Truth.

those wacky rapefugees! who are we westerners to impose our views & morality on them?

really folks, don't you wish Barack & Hillary's plan to bring thousands of rapefugees had happened?

Churches are an affront to their religious sensibilities. These poor men are an oppressed minority with PTSD from being in numerous war zones (caused by the Imperialist West) and subservience to the will of Allah is a vital part of their identity and social cohesion in the face of an overwhelming Christian power structure. Germans really need to check their privilege on this issue.

Your willingness to swallow an obviously fake news story without bothering to fact-check is an affront to western educational standards.

You bitch about Muslim extremists, yet your own critical thinking skills show nothing that allows you to claim intellectual superiority.

Your attempt at snark is also noted.

Look- it's trying to think!
14 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 16:33
A Google search couldn't find anything about this reported by any legitimate (i.e., non-partisan) news source.
15 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 16:44
Thanks to anon for correcting that the building was not the oldest church in Germany but simply in Dortmund.
--------------------

Phew! For a moment there I thought it was something serious.

Thanks anon for always getting the priorities right.

I am firmly against Muslim immigration, but I call bovine excrement on this story. There is nothing that rings true on the article. And "the German government ordered CCTV footage erased"? I don't buy that for a moment.
17 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 17:10
Many were calling BS on cover ups of mass migrant sex abuse in Cologne this time last year.

That said, it could be bs. Let's wait and see.

A firework rocket, like they are set off to gazillions on NYE all over germany by pretty much every citizen, burnt parts of a scaffolding which was in front of that church. No significant damage, just wanted to correct that. Still nothing to be proud of, and unclear if it was on purpose or the fireworks just went off, but it's much more ashaming that the right-wing propaganda makes mountains out of molehills once more. Fake News is pretty much all one can say here.

Source: Me, born, raised and living in Dortmund ;-)
19 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 17:20
Were they chanting allahu ackbar?

If so, you wouldn't think that a large group of christians chanting christian slogans outside a mosque would be viewed upon as very provocative?
20 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 17:26
Certainly, but that was not what the post or article was about. All I am saying is, calling this incident "Muslims brun Dortmund's oldest church" is as fake as it can get.
I went past the church today, as it is very close to the city centre between the shopping mile and the place where I parked my car. It looked as always, it was open. So you can imagine I was like "WTF" when i read this post.
21 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 17:30
You appear to be more annoyed with someone's exaggerated post than you do about a huge crowd of muslims massing in your city centre and chanting in a highly provocative manner.

Good luck when it reaches a crowd of 2000, 5000, 10000.
22 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 17:35
I know that this might be a little complicated for you to grasp, but the fact is, if the article lied about the church burning, it also probably lied about both the composition of the crowd and what it was saying and doing. In point of fact, based solely on this article, you can't really say whether there was a crowd there or not.

Just saying.
23 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 17:40
I know that this might be a little complicated for you to grasp, but the fact is, Cologne says otherwise.

Just saying.
24 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 17:50
Cologne? This is supposed to be Dortmund.
25 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 17:59
Well the thing is, the claim of a "chanting muslim group" came from the same author claiming "muslims set church on fire". Fool me once...
26 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 18:07
Do you deny Cologne?

Like I say, good luck with your denial.
27 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 18:15
The Associated Press and the Dortmund police back you up:
http://www.ksby.com/story/34181269/german-police-slam-misleading-reports-of-new-years-violence

I had to go a good way down the Google search results to find an article that wasn't from a right wing and/or white supremacist site. Someone even updated the Wiki article for the church citing Breitbart.
28 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 18:21
Oh, and also:
Things go really crazy here in germany on NYE, this incident was certainly one of the more harmless. Pretty much every citizen is covered with fireworks and setting it of in the streets at midnight. The youtue video shows pretty much every german street between 23:45 ad 2:00am:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14uL87Fr43Y

Alot potential to fuck up unintentionally, given that most people are drunk af.
29 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 18:28
and here is a source for Christoph's statements

http://www.ruhrnachrichten.de/staedte/dortmund/44137-Dortmund~/Silvester-Boellerverbote-und-Platzverweise-Die-Lage-in-Dortmund;art930,3185532

In new years eve there's always the usual trouble with some Young people (regardless where they are from) who get drunk and foolish.

The chanting muslims were a paragraph for themselves

Eine Gruppe von Syrern feierte singend den Waffenstillstand in Syrien.

and had nothing to do with firing rockets!

Well I got this article from 'The Religion of Peace', a website with integrity which has issued retractions when they have been wrong (which is very rare). I'll be awaiting for their assessment.
31 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 18:39
I see it was Coptic. Deliberate sectarian attack on the real Egyptian people.
32 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 19:44
The Religion of Peace is a "website of integrity"? :/
33 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 19:48
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2017/01/04/german-police-slam-reports-new-years-migrant-violence.html

And here is the relevant quote:

The spokeswoman, Nina Vogt, said a firework also struck some netting on scaffolding close to the Reinoldi Church, but the small fire was quickly extinguished.

"There's no indication it was directed there on purpose," she said. Contrary to various reports on English-language websites, the church is not Germany's oldest.

While there were several arrests and violent incidents in Dortmund, that wasn't unusual for a city of almost 600,000, she said.

"New Year's Eve night really was pretty quiet," Vogt told The Associated Press. Reports to the contrary "absolutely don't correspond to reality," she said.

Stop posting crap from lunatic fake news sites.
34 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 19:52
Thanks for that. Since the OP is an irresponsible hate-mongering jerk.
35 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 19:55
So much of this crap would have been avoided if people would not use crap sites without the minimal fact-checking.

I used "Fox News" as a source for a reason. Because, if even Fox News is saying that your "Muslim mob" article is a load of bull feces...
36 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 19:59
Thanks to anon for correcting that the building was not the oldest church in Germany but simply in Dortmund

I've got that pathetic caricature on ignore but I'm assuming that after generously correcting you he/she proceeded to condemn this reprehensible crime like any reasonable person would?

.....er, why do I feel like I already know the answer to that question?
37 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 20:04
How about you backing down after the number of times this story has been shown to be a fake?
38 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 20:11
>>37
Oh I don't deny that the link in the OP is somewhat hyperbolic in tone and thus factually speculative to an extent* but despite yours and others incensed, Tourette's-esque "fake news" mantra I'll reserve judgment as to what actually transpired in the hope of more credible accounts being sourced.

And woe betide we should conveniently forget similar, desperate denials at about this time last year after Cologne from both supposedly respectable media outlets and the regional authorities....and when said denials failed they insisted that the scale of the crimes that took place were wickedly exaggerated, and so on and so on, etc, etc.**
39 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 20:21
I already posted the Fox News version, which completely eviscerates these claims.
40 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 20:32
"Somewhat hyperbolic in tone"???? It was a tissue of lies from beginning to end, motivated no doubt by pure malice.
41 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 20:44

It was a tissue of lies from beginning to end, motivated no doubt by pure malice.

Ah but who says? The German authorities? The German police?

Good job they never fib or else conspire to suppress certain 'culturally-charged' incidents then isn't it!

It's proving increasingly difficult these days to discern the actual truth with so many prepared, if not outright desperate to lie about it - all peppered with shrieks of the latest (and already oversaturated) buzz term of the moment: "Fake News" (tm) of course.
42 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 20:57
You seem to be a little picky-choosy here.

The wingnut site that posts the bizarre rant about a Muslim mob is entitled to the benefit of the doubt, but the refutation by more reputable news sources and German government officials is assumed to be a cover-up until proven otherwise.
43 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 21:11
Good one >>42, you're usually this picky as well.
44 Name: RedCream : 2017-01-04 21:33
Fake news.
45 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 21:41
We need to stop Muslim immigration until we can figure out what is going on.
46 Name: Anonymous : 2017-01-04 23:49
I'm a Jewish Muslim.
