I just made another that's slightly related. Pointing out that progressives might be wise to dial back certain parts of their message. Even many liberals aren't ready to face certain painful realities. The reaction to Steve Martins problematic attempt at a tribute to Carrie Fisher made that clear. Even on progressive news sites, the reaction to these stories has been generally negative.

Is there anyone who can define what a SJW truly is? I'm all ears.

I've been labeled one simply for consistently speaking out against police brutality towards blacks. It seems SJW is just another convenient term for dumbazzes to ignore the issues at hand. Much like PC is a codeword excuse for racists to be the way they are.

It is anyone who searches out ways to be offended to show how tolerant they are, usually while living a very comfortable life and doing all of their 'fighting' from behind a keyboard or webcam. You can usually throw in a few insane ideas about what equality is. And finally, anyone who disagrees with them is racist, misogynist, homophobic, etc., even if the disagreement is about where to have lunch.

Interesting. I see the term thrown around to posters here a lot. Yet, this is a message forum, is it not? We are ALL voicing our beliefs behind a keyboard. Like I said, it seems to me it is no different from when people use the term 'PC' when they read something they don't agree with.

In my opinion it is all a question of degree. Voicing an opinion on a topic that comes up is one thing; searching out things to be offended by, and condemn with their enlightened moral superiority (generally while ignoring important facts about the issue) is SJW territory.

I don't like the stereotype of SJW, which is being offended at victimless events. For instance, the Steve Martin tweet had me rolling my eyes numerous times because was anybody truly hurt by this? No. People were offended for the sake of being offended. I also feel bad that Steve felt he had to delete his message, which limits freedom of speech. It all felt regressive to me.

I don't support subtle or blatant racism or discriminatory statements that are sometimes lobbed under "liberals just being SJWs." Those are very real topics that should be analyzed and discussed.

It's Propaganda 101: take a simple term or acronym, relentlessly associate it with the most extreme or absurd expressions of an ideology you wish to discredit, and eventually ALL expressions of that ideology will be tagged with the term and dismissed out of hand.

PC, SJW nonsense accomplishes nothing, doesn't actually address any of the actual problems, it just puts a nice frame around it so it looks nice, and causes more harm than it's worth. Democrats and liberals especially need to cut it off and focus on the things that actually matter.
