Excess cocaine abuse during their younger years?

Carrie Fisher and George Michael were particularly heavy drug addicts. And although Bowie sorted himself out, he used to do a lot of coke. And of course, Michael Jackson and Prince were addicted to prescription drugs, even if they didn't partake in illegal substances.

I guess early cocaine abuse must take a hard toil on a person's heart rate.

They didn't want to grow old. Besides, 60 is old, as far as I am concerned.

That's a stupid and ageist thing to say, and not very liberal. Plus, thanks to medicine and advances in living standards, people are living much longer. 60 will soon be close to middle-aged.

60, old? Even when I was an adolescent I didn't think 60 was THAT old. And now, in my late 20's, I still subscribe to that belief.

It may have been something put in the water during the Korean War or something...and they are but the first wave to fall.

According to the article, this is because of the celebration of drugs and promiscuity, the high prevalence of depression, etc. Deaths caused by accidents, suicide, and homicide are higher across the board.

For both George and Carrie, I'm guessing that it probably is their history with drug abuse. Cocaine does a number on the heart for sure. Thank God I didn't actually try it despite the opportunities I've had to experiment with it.

Probably because they now live in a toxic world where they can no longer be who they are because someone is constantly watching every thing that they do.

The stress gets to them. Celebrities are people too.

Definitely heavy coke use and cigarette smoking with Carrie Fisher. 100%. I suspect George Michael was the same, heavy coke use and smokes. I recall Whitney Houston's autopsy revealed severe arteriosclerosis from coke and nicotine abuse and she was younger than CF. Basically quit the smokes, don't do the coke lines and get a heart perfusion scan if over 50.
