Insane. Tragic and insane. What a batty year for pop culture, among other things.

This one's gonna ring hard through fandom.

I didn't believe it at first, but sadly it's true. RIP Carrie Fisher. 😢

The most beautiful princess to ever exist. Rest in Peace Carrie.

I can't believe it. 60 is still not enough, I'm truly sad now.

Wow...damn. RIP. Thought that there was a shot that she was going to make a recovery from that cardiac accident, but this just goes to show that you never know with these things.

RIP

Man. This has been a crazy year for high profile deaths.

Now all you need is Michael J Fox or oen of the brat pack and it'll have wiped out half the damn 80's!

RIP

It's a weird thing to say but it looks like SFBE saw it coming before everybody. There's also that user who had predicted a major celebrity death before the end of the year.

I did too. Debbie and her brother were just saying how she was in stable condition too. Damn shame, man. This year really sucks.

She is now one with the force, and more powerful than we can possibly imagine. 😢
16 Name: Anonymous : 2016-12-27 19:22

I thought this was going to be another /lounge/ 'boy who cried wolf' post. Sad news. 60 is really not that old.

RIP. I grew up with Star Wars, right through my childhood and I still love those films. We'll always have Star Wars though.

Well, this makes me feel a lot like how I felt when Leonard Nimoy died last year; a piece of my past, my youth is gone. Of course Nimoy had reached a respectable age; 60 is far too young. There were problems for her of course over the years but my impression was that she had put the drugs and drama mostly behind her. Whether she did or not it just doesn't seem real somehow; I spent Christmas day with people who are all at least 30 years older than me and all in great health, at least for their ages - this is just weird.

RIP

A sad, tragic loss. I was really hoping she'd pull through.

Well Leonard Nimoy's death was very sad as well, but he had been sick for a while so it didn't come as a total shock. Fisher it seems just got a massive heart attack out of nowhere and then died a few days later.

I wonder if you worry about your own mortality. You are such a cynical human being sometimes. And I know for certain you are old.
23 Name: Anonymous : 2016-12-27 20:27
He is only like 51 actually.
24 Name: Anonymous : 2016-12-27 20:28
Condolences to Debbie Reynolds. It's a hard thing to lose a child.

You know what the sad thing is? Her death will translate to a huge pay day for Disney when Episode 8 comes out. Am I being cynical? Maybe. It is true though.

Either way, RIP. She seemed fine, but I didn't know her obviously.

Let's just hope Disney/Lucasfilm gives a respectable send-off to Leia.

"Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi you're my only hope..."

RIP.

This loss is going to be REALLY tough to get over (especially for die-hard Star Wars fans, her co-stars and her family).

R.I.P. Princess. The Force will be with you, always.

This is genuinely saddening. 2016 has to end. RIP
29 Name: Anonymous : 2016-12-27 20:42
Oh no. RIP.

Thanks for the movies.

Carrie Fisher Rest in Peace

RIP! 2016 is just unbelievable.

"Oh Marie."

RIP Carrie

Well this one really stunned me. Cinema was never as magical as when I saw Star Wars at age 13 in 1977 - and I kept going back for repeat viewings to recapture that magic, 10 times that summer. And, yeah, I totally had the hots for Carrie Fisher.

Then in her later years, I always appreciated her no-nonsense sardonic humor. A lot sharper and more interesting than most actors out there, at least to me. She will be missed.
