Nigel Farage

Did Nigel Farage become famous because he has a cool-sounding name?

It's French, you know.

Plus the Christian name, Nigel. A super-British first name and French surname, plus the whole thing just sounds super cool . . . Nigel Faraaaaaaaage.

In English Farage rhymes with garage.

In the United States (outside of some really old school neighborhoods in Boston) people pronounce garage the French way as well, instead of the British way.

Are you saying that in England, people pronounce his name like "Farridge" instead of "Faraaage"?

The 'garridge' pronunciation is just in the north of England. It's mostly pronounced 'garaaaaage', as is 'Faraaaaaaaage'.

Sounds like the villain of a Bond movie to me.

Plus he kind of looks like Tim Curry so there's that too.

He isn't a patch on our Beautiful Dark Lord Tim.

He became famous because all the major political parties decided to ignore the public's ongoing concerns regarding Europe (having signed up to it lock stock and barrel) allowing him to take advantage of their blatant disregard for the British people by turning UKIP into the only voice noticeably catering to that huge swathe of British skepticism.

It's not hard making a name for yourself in politics when you're apparently the only politician who's listening.

He's still a turd though.

Nice number you did on that "Coldnaps" douche bag . . . I like your style. Mind if I quote you sometime?

I'll concede it'd be a great name for a Bond type villain.

Whatever you are, be a good one.
